SoDA continues to interview interesting women who work in our member companies. We strongly believe that women play more and more significant roles in the widely understood industry. We strongly support this trend \u2014 diversification means the change of the optics \u2014 finally, women will not be treated as strangers in this business \u2014 now often perceived as man\u2019s world. That is why we have launched \u201eWomen can do IT\u201d, a project presenting female leaders, managers, experts, and specialists from the member companies of SoDA.<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We\u2019re talking with\u00a0Marta Roszko<\/strong>\u00a0from BlueRider Software, who successfully combines different roles in\u00a0her company.<\/p>\n

What role do\u00a0you play in\u00a0your company?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m the one-woman-band (laughs). Officially I\u2019m the CEO and CFO, but usually, I\u00a0do\u00a0everything except for software development.<\/p>\n

What is your formal background and education? How did you end up in\u00a0IT?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u00a0just went and started a\u00a0company. Eleven years ago, or\u00a0so, my\u00a0colleague gave me\u00a0a\u00a0tip \u2014\u00a0the European Union helped new companies through grants. I\u00a0went, I\u00a0saw, I\u00a0conquered (laughs). We\u00a0created software for various companies, and that\u2019s how it\u2019s been from the beginning.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0finished an economic high school, which benefits me\u00a0to\u00a0this day. Part of my\u00a0routine is managing money flow so that\u2019s a\u00a0plus. Bachelor\u2019s degree was in\u00a0mathematics, a\u00a0master\u2019s in\u00a0computer science. This combination turns out to\u00a0be\u00a0invaluable because I\u00a0can do\u00a0everything without making an effort. Thanks to\u00a0this I\u00a0can focus on\u00a0what\u2019s really important and that\u2019s people and products. Exactly in\u00a0that order. I\u00a0can also understand software developers. Being part of their team and understanding complex technical dilemmas without feeling like a\u00a0space alien is very helpful.<\/p>\n

How does your typical month of work look like?<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is no\u00a0such thing as\u00a0a\u00a0typical month, not with five kids and multiple tasks to\u00a0manage on\u00a0the professional front. In\u00a0the first few days, I\u00a0always draw in\u00a0paperwork, since I\u00a0have to\u00a0pay invoices on\u00a0time and handle other costs. The rest month is divided into various tasks \u2014\u00a0financials with clients, day-to-day business operations, company events\u2026 One thing is for sure \u2014\u00a0I\u00a0don\u2019t get bored easily\u00a0\ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

What is your biggest success in\u00a0the IT industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The greatest success is the continuous quality development and the fact that we\u2019re still here. There are much larger companies on\u00a0the market with data science, AI & ML, but we\u00a0have managed to\u00a0create a\u00a0space for ourselves. In\u00a0such a\u00a0saturated market, it\u2019s easy to\u00a0forget that smaller companies can also be\u00a0here and grow successfully.<\/p>\n

The other important thing is that we\u00a0don\u2019t feel burned out. My\u00a0husband is working with me\u00a0side by\u00a0side as\u00a0a\u00a0CTO. It would be\u00a0hard for all of us if we\u00a0were to\u00a0fight all the time or\u00a0just felt like these 11 years were too much. Fortunately for the clients, our team, and us personally, we\u00a0still like what we\u00a0do. I\u00a0guess that\u2019s the key to\u00a0deal with everyday difficulties.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re asking project-wise, I\u00a0would say that we\u00a0are proud of the recent, legal project made for a\u00a0huge company in\u00a0the USA. The idea was to\u00a0analyze legal contracts and find mistakes in\u00a0them. The client said that our software was much more efficient than dozens of lawyers which says a\u00a0lot.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

What is your biggest professional challenge?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Separating professional life from the private one (laughs). Fortunately, I\u00a0have gained some experience over the years. I\u00a0often find myself thinking about work while relaxing on\u00a0a\u00a0couch. It\u2019s very easy to\u00a0get lost in\u00a0it, especially if you have a\u00a0company.<\/p>\n

Another difficulty was to\u00a0make a\u00a0decision to\u00a0rebrand the company and take a\u00a0new direction (the company was previously called TJ Software). Personally, the main challenge for me\u00a0was to\u00a0step out of my\u00a0comfort zone and try something new. From a\u00a0years\u2019 perspective, I\u00a0can tell it was a\u00a0great move.<\/p>\n

What is your professional goal?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My\u00a0main goal is to\u00a0increase the reach of the brand. I\u00a0would also like to\u00a0help global society in\u00a0solving a\u00a0significant real-life problem. I\u00a0guess that\u2019s my\u00a0dream \u2014\u00a0finding a\u00a0solution for tomorrow for something we\u00a0have today.<\/p>\n
