We strongly believe that women play more and more significant roles in the widely understood industry. We highly support this trend \u2014 diversification means the change of the optics \u2014 finally, women will not be treated as strangers in this business \u2014 now often perceived as man\u2019s world. That is why we have launched \u201eWomen can do IT\u201d, a project presenting female leaders, managers, experts, and specialists from member companies of SoDA.<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-61bab7f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"61bab7f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p id=\"c98a\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">We\u2019re talking with\u00a0<strong class=\"lg iz\">Ma\u0142gorzata Rusin<\/strong>\u00a0from Divante \u2014\u00a0an interesting woman who\u2019s main goal in\u00a0her career is to\u00a0do\u00a0interesting and valuable things with the use of technology.<\/p>\n<p id=\"3eef\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"lg iz\">What role do\u00a0you play in\u00a0your company?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"e7bc\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Until recently, I\u00a0worked as\u00a0Chief Sales Officer at\u00a0Divante, where I\u00a0was responsible for sales, marketing, and Product Design.<\/p>\n<p id=\"1b80\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Currently, I\u00a0work in\u00a0the VOX Capital Group, and the name of my\u00a0position is long, complicated and I\u00a0made it up myself (laughs) \u2014\u00a0Product Discovery &amp; Consumer Insight Manager.<\/p>\n<p id=\"abf7\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">I\u00a0support the implementation of new products, both digital and physical, as\u00a0well as\u00a0looking for development directions and business use of existing solutions. I\u00a0also conduct research processes, and then, together with designers, I\u00a0put the results of these studies into practice.<\/p>\n<p id=\"9865\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"lg iz\">What is your formal background and education? How did you end up in\u00a0IT?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"d499\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">I\u00a0have a\u00a0master\u2019s degree in\u00a0sociology. After some time, I\u00a0felt bored and tired so I\u00a0did a\u00a0postgraduate in\u00a0project management. With IT in\u00a0mind. It was 2012 and the industry exploded. Luckily, Divante was searching for a\u00a0Product Manager for its UX department. It was interesting because UX is the least IT-driven in\u00a0the entire IT (laughs). After some time, I\u00a0was dealing with the entire UX department. My\u00a0role in\u00a0the company evolved; after another period of time, I\u00a0was responsible for customer acquisition because Divante was looking for a\u00a0board member\u2019s replacement. Tomasz Karwatka, the CEO, wanted to\u00a0drop this part of his responsibilities and as\u00a0it turned out, I\u00a0was pretty good at\u00a0it. Eventually, he\u00a0asked me\u00a0to\u00a0join the board.<\/p>\n<p id=\"c753\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"lg iz\">And yet after 6 years in\u00a0Divante, you have decided to\u00a0make another change.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ca1a\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">I\u00a0have my\u00a0own theory of the relay race, which is based on\u00a0the belief that at\u00a0some stage of the company\u2019s development, certain people with a\u00a0specific mindset of competencies are needed. If the current team doesn\u2019t have these skills, it\u2019s time to\u00a0pass the baton to\u00a0the next.<\/p>\n<p id=\"87a1\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"lg iz\">And you did so?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"3ba5\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Yes. When I\u00a0was joining Divante, they needed someone who would set the standards, organize the way of work, and adjust the tools, which would help to\u00a0scale what was achieved before. Now the company enters the next stage of development and sets itself new ambitious goals.<\/p>\n<p id=\"5785\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">I\u00a0felt that my\u00a0role wasn\u2019t enough, so I\u00a0talked to\u00a0Tomek and we\u00a0agreed together that we\u00a0had to\u00a0look for my\u00a0successor.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ee31\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Now I\u00a0find it was a\u00a0good time for both the company and me. Is it even possible in\u00a0times of a\u00a0pandemic?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"11c5\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Of course! What I\u00a0want to\u00a0say is that you cannot be\u00a0afraid of change. Even in\u00a0the midst of a\u00a0pandemic. If you feel that you want to\u00a0go\u00a0a\u00a0different direction that will allow you to\u00a0develop your skills or\u00a0predispositions \u2014\u00a0try. Today, we\u00a0tend to\u00a0apply for the same positions at\u00a0every new job. Unfortunately, some recruiters are also focused on\u00a0verifying the previous experience in\u00a0terms of the name of the position, and not the tasks performed there or\u00a0the skills acquired. I\u00a0recommend looking for new places, in\u00a0line with my\u00a0competencies and talents. And I\u00a0know that there are employers who are more willing to\u00a0hire people motivated to\u00a0change and develop because they know that they will enter new modes sooner.<\/p>\n<p id=\"3991\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"lg iz\">And you managed to\u00a0enter the new organization efficiently?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"b521\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Yes, although I\u00a0have to\u00a0admit that it is still a\u00a0kind of a\u00a0challenge for me. Both Divante, an IT service company, and the VOX Capital Group, a\u00a0large production, and service company have completely different, specific organizational cultures. I\u00a0had to\u00a0enter a\u00a0completely new rhythm of work and adapt to\u00a0it.<\/p>\n<p id=\"9318\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"lg iz\">What was your typical month at\u00a0Divante like, and how now? Has anything changed?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"db17\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">What has not changed is that there is no\u00a0such thing as\u00a0a\u00a0typical month! Previously, I\u00a0mainly dealt with team management and strategic planning, now I\u00a0have fewer tasks related to\u00a0this kind of coordination. I\u00a0became a\u00a0member of the team, or\u00a0rather several multidisciplinary teams because the thematic scope of my\u00a0work has increased. Currently, I\u00a0work on\u00a0classic research projects, I\u00a0am\u00a0part of a\u00a0working team dealing with the development of an innovative product, I\u00a0also contact external partners.<\/p>\n<p id=\"7f64\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">What has not changed is the remote work model \u2014\u00a0both in\u00a0Divante and VOX we\u00a0work from home.<\/p>\n<p id=\"6fad\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"lg iz\">What is your greatest success in\u00a0the IT industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"3f0f\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Starting work in\u00a0IT and overcoming the classic stereotype of a\u00a0\u201cnon-technical\u201d person. It turns out that you can be\u00a0an IT human\u2026 while not being an IT human. This industry is changing dynamically, and many managers see how important soft skills are. After all, technology is for humans, not bots. Who is better at\u00a0working with people, if not just a\u00a0human?<\/p>\n<p id=\"20db\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"lg iz\">Do\u00a0you have any other career challenges?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"2b41\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">To\u00a0scale all achievements so far and translate them into current victories.<\/p>\n<p id=\"9c1c\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">However, the biggest challenge is to\u00a0recognize the new environment and adapt to\u00a0it. There are new projects ahead of me, including one secret project (laughs) \u2014\u00a0I\u00a0can only reveal that it will be\u00a0something nice and valuable from the client\u2019s point of view. This also fits in\u00a0with my\u00a0idea of a\u00a0job in\u00a0which I\u00a0can learn about the needs of consumers and create tailor-made products that will respond to\u00a0these needs.<\/p>\n<p id=\"9a4b\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"lg iz\">What are your business goals?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"0071\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph le lf iy lg b lh my lj lk ll mz ln lo lp na lr ls lt nb lv lw lx nc lz ma mb ir ga\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">I\u2019ve never had a\u00a0\u201cfive-year plan for life.\u201d I\u00a0still don\u2019t, and that makes it much harder to\u00a0answer this question. I\u00a0think I\u2019ve always wanted to\u00a0do\u00a0interesting things. Just this. Professional titles or\u00a0the level I\u00a0am\u00a0at\u00a0do\u00a0not matter. All I\u00a0want is to\u00a0carry out interesting projects using super technologies that change people\u2019s lives. Business goals are important, but it\u2019s always great to\u00a0be\u00a0part of activities that have real value for others. In\u00a0Divante, for example, we\u00a0implemented a\u00a0project for a\u00a0pharmacy that needed an electronic prescription system. This is an example of how technology can help people and respond to\u00a0their real needs.
