Whenever people ask me\u00a0about the meaning of the Internet of Things (IoT),
\nI\u00a0use my\u00a0own example defined for a\u00a0non-technical audience: physical objects consist of sensors communicating with the cloud (a\u00a0place equipped with software) through the internet. Once the data is received by\u00a0the cloud, the software processes it and decides to\u00a0act on\u00a0physical devices, without human interference.<\/p>\n

Nowadays we\u00a0are surrounded by\u00a0IoT every day: whether it\u2019s in\u00a0our home (wireless heating systems, smart devices taking care of our safety), our cars (over-the-air updates system keep us from having to\u00a0go\u00a0to\u00a0the dealer just for car software update) or\u00a0our offices (triggering specific actions based on\u00a0the entrance and exit times of workers).<\/p>\n

However, thinking more broadly and from the perspective of people associated with the creation of software, the future of IoT has the potential to\u00a0be\u00a0limitless. Advances to\u00a0the industrial internet will be\u00a0accelerated through increased business and economic agility, artificial intelligence (AI), and the capacity to\u00a0deploy automate, and secure diverse use cases at\u00a0hyper-scale. It\u2019s not only about enabling billions of devices simultaneously but leveraging the huge volumes of data that can easily automate business processes in\u00a0every industry. New businesses will edge furthermore into IT and data-driven decisions opening entire new streams of revenue.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0DO\u00a0OK\u00a0we\u00a0believe, the software is a\u00a0transformational force that will eventually drive all things to\u00a0be\u00a0powered, digitized, and connected for better business outcomes and people\u2019s lives. The IoT refers to\u00a0the device that transfers data over a\u00a0network that generates unimaginable amounts of data. Many organizations are clueless about how to\u00a0manage this amount of data and how the data may have an impact on\u00a0their decisions and people\u2019s future if they use them properly. Also, no\u00a0organization will ignore this data if it\u2019s related to\u00a0customers and their personal information. That\u2019s why we\u00a0made DoConnect for small to\u00a0medium enterprise managers, to\u00a0help address both business continuity and growth of operational efficiency goals. We\u2019ve built a\u00a0platform that combines human-AI with machine learning to\u00a0deliver significant insights collected horizontally from overlapping industries. These actions will be\u00a0food for brains to\u00a0empower employees, asset performance, health care efficiency, risk or\u00a0compliance management, and wherever advanced data analysis and remote control are needed. Companies may not need Big Data at\u00a0all, what often managers need, is an evidence-based structure for their business to\u00a0support decisions.<\/p>\n
